I Am Not A Hockey Mom…

But I bow down to those of you who are.  Honestly, I don't know how you do it.  I watch your updates on Facebook...how you have three or four kids in hockey, all on different teams, and somehow you are able to keep it all straight.  Every game, every practice, ever schedule.  You amaze me.  I'm lucky if I can make it outside with my kids each day! I know for some of you the relief is near.  The hockey season is just about over and you now get … [Read more...]

Big Red is Back!

I love cook books.  I love how much inspiration is inside each and every one.  I enjoy flipping through, looking at the beautiful photography that a really good cook book has.  I love finding a recipe, and making it my own.  I have a few cook books that are my very favorite.  One from a famous Canadian Chef, another is a cookie book...but I get to let you in on a little secret. One that the one and only Miss Betty Crocker told me. Big Red … [Read more...]

Lunch Box Blahs

Ben has been in school now for 3 weeks, minus the two days he's now missed...croup.  And in every single lunch I've sent the same kind of sandwiches.  He likes them, he eats them (most of the time) but it's the same thing over and over. I like variety.  I like a bit of spice.  I like change. I find it hard to be so un-creative.  I want to send him with a lunch that inspires him!  That is exciting, the kind of lunch that all the kids at his … [Read more...]

Seventh Generation

Laundry and diapers.  These two things fill my days, every day.  These are two products that I consume so much, that it's hard not to feel a twinge of guilt every time I throw away that diaper, or add another cap-full of detergent to the washer.  "What are the environmental effects of all this consumption?", "How are these products good for my family?" "Can I feel safe using them?"  All questions I ask myself regularly while I do my weekly … [Read more...]

Winter Boots?

Yes. I said winter and boots. It's coming. You know it as well as I do, soon our hot weather will be gone and we'll be shoveling snow for 8 months. And quite honestly I can't say that I'm complaining.  I'm a winter girl.  The heat of summer and I, well we just don't mix.  I like to layer up, wear lot of clothes, and yes, even winter boots. This winter I am buying new boots.  I'm in the market for a new pair anyway!  And I'm thrilled that was of … [Read more...]

Kodak Easy Share Sport Camera

Summer isn't over yet.  Even into the fall the forecast is saying it's going to be HOT HOT HOT for most of Canada, late summer/early fall beach trips will be a must!  If you've got a pool in the back yard, it'll be open a few extra weeks!  Probably making up for the cold introduction into summer that we had.  Either way, there are still lots of opportunities to get outdoors and have fun! What could be more fun than taking pictures in places … [Read more...]

IronKids Gummies Vitamins

He wakes up every morning somewhere around 8am.  I pull him from his crib, a quick bum change.  His next steps are so routine, you can almost see the path he's wearing in the flooring.  Straight to the cupboard where the gummy vitamins are.  He loves them...To him, they're just candy.  He has no concept of what a vitamin is, but he knows about these.  And he knows exactly where they are kept.  When you have a picky eater, one that some days will … [Read more...]

Back To School with Barbie

I've always been a fan of Barbie.  When I was a little girl, I spend many hours playing with her hair, dressing her up and, well, making her kiss Ken.  At the time, I didn't realize what she was doing to me.  One day she was a doctor, another day she was a business woman...some days, she was a mom.  Barbie has had over 125 careers over her lifetime, she wore so many different shoes hats, and she taught me that I could be all of those things … [Read more...]

Back To School – GlowBaby

Whether you are a seasoned parent, or a new one, Back-To-School is the time of year when everything changes.  Daily routines get put back in place, no more late dinners, kids have to be in bed on time!  It's a time for preparing, getting up early, and being organized. That's where I went wrong last year.  Last year was Ben's first year of Big-School.  I though everything would just fall into place.  I didn't think I really needed to … [Read more...]

Back To School – Mabel’s Labels

It's that time again! New shoes and clothes, backpacks and books. It's time for shopping Back To School! This has to be one of my very favorite shopping events ever.  I LOVE anything that includes paper and pens, binders and books.  Just the smell of everything makes me smile.  I remember back in my school days, after my mom took us all shopping, sitting in my room and adding paper to my binders, dividers, putting pencils and pens in my case. … [Read more...]
