Share the Love of Reading this February with Happy Meal Books from McDonald’s

As a child I loved to curl up in a corner with a comfy blanket and my favourite book. At school, the end of day bell would ring and I wouldn’t notice… while the other children were rushing to get out the door, I was still lost in the book I was reading. The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.  Both William and Ben learned to read at a young age, and have fallen in love with the world that is created when they devote themselves to a great … [Read more...]

Five Ways to Keep your Child Busy this Summer

“Summer time, and the livin’ is easy….”. It’s fair to say that when George Gershwin and DuBose Heyward wrote their hit song in 1935 they didn’t have to entertain bored children during the summer. In fact, there is nothing harder for a parent than trying to find interesting and, if you’re lucky, useful things for the children to do during the summer break. So here are some tips to help make your summertime living just that little bit … [Read more...]

I’m A Lego Duplo Play Agent

And I couldn't be happier! I love all things Lego.  The creativity that it in stills in our kids, the lessons on organization, the hand-eye co-ordination.  And yes, the odd 'I just stepped on a piece of Lego' moment.  Lego has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Halloween Fun for the Little Ones with Disney Junior!

Halloween is one event my kids plan for.  My eldest has been planning his costume all year long!  And his Dad is in a mad rush to get it built!  (Yes, it is so elaborate that it needs to be built - not made) For Ben, this is his normal.  He's older, he knows that with Halloween comes candy and trick-or-treating, costumes and classroom parties.  But William - William is not quite three yet, and has little to no clue about just how much fun … [Read more...]

Imagination.

My six year old son Ben is growing up far too quickly.  Many of his most prized possessions, his most beloved toys are growing dusty.  Passed over far too often for the video games and chapter books, movies and computer time.  Recently, due to bad behavior we took away all of his technology, and his play time was left to toys that run on the power of imagination. It really didn't take him long to find something worth playing with.  Over the … [Read more...]
