Boston Pizza Kids Cards are Back! $5 Donation = 5 Kids Meals

Lets talk about a situation that many of us face. It's been a long day at work, or maybe you've been home cleaning your butt off since the kids went off to school. Either way, when you look at the clock and it's telling you that you may have forgotten about feeding your family, it is definitely a good day to eat out! Well this time I decided to let my 2 boys choose where we were going to eat. And by some strange act of what I can only assume was … [Read more...]

Pumpkin Cookies & Thanksgiving

With summer quickly disappearing in our rear-view mirror and fall coming at us at highway speeds, there are a few things we need to remember. Granted, we all love summer for it's sunshine and lazy days. And lets not forget the BBQ in all it's glory. But for me, leaves changing color and eventually coating my lawn (in unending piles) means special times are on their way. Because with fall comes the start of family feasting season. You know, when … [Read more...]

Back to school with Villaggio

The phrase "Back to school" brings with it a bag of mixed feelings, no matter who you are. For kids, it signals the end of summer. No more late nights on the couch with movies and popcorn, and worst of all no more sleeping in after those late nights. For parents, it also signals the end of summer, and tragically (at least for me) means that sleeping in is also off the table for us. It also leaves many of us with an even bigger problem than … [Read more...]

BBQ Forever – Dad’s Turkey Burger Recipe

I woke up this morning to a chill in the air. A chill I haven't felt since winter released its icy grip on my skin, and allowed the warm sunshine of spring to wrap me up in its blanket of  happiness.  This chill can only mean one thing. Fall is on its way, and there is nothing I can do about it. well, almost nothing. You see, there is one part of summer that everyone loves, and that love runs no deeper than it does with me.  I'm talking about BBQ … [Read more...]

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Everyone is familiar with the 3 R's. Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle. I try to follow these rules, and teach them to my children at the same time.  My personal favorite of these rules is "Re-use". As the handyman of the house, I love nothing more than taking something that has lost its purpose, and finding it a new life.  This often takes place by deconstructing something that no longer works, is no longer needed, or just speaks to me (as happens … [Read more...]

Creamy Curry Bombay Salad, Perfect for the Lunch Box #WhatsCooking

Lets face it. Nothing says summertime like BBQ , beaches, and sleeping in! And nothing says back to school like bleary eyed mornings, rushing to dress half sleeping children, and of course trying to figure out what to feed my hungry monsters at their home away from home (school) ! Whenever I need a quick fix at lunch time for my two hungry boys( who seem to have the stamina of an elite athlete in the midst of a playoff run), Pasta is my go to … [Read more...]

The Tree House

I have been working for the past week to complete a  much anticipated tree house for my two boys, and though we're all most done, I was faced with a somewhat painful problem.  Splinters. They can be a real pain in the... well in this case feet!  Although they love the tree house itself, they are not big fans of the splinters they receive every time they walk on my well built, yet slightly uncomfortable plywood floor. Luckily for them, they have a … [Read more...]
