Eight Pounds of Butter

That is what I equate it to. The weight I’ve lost, I mean. Eight pounds of butter = 8lbs of fat.

On March 3rd I weighed myself.  It was the day after my birthday party, and I had just eaten a piece of this:

It was beyond delicious…and was my birthday cake baked for my by my sister in law.  Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever had cake so delicious.  I should never ever have stepped on the scale.

But I did.

And it read 190lbs.

Now, I’ve only ever weighed that much when I was pregnant…and I guarentee you that is not the case.  Ever since I quit smoking and stopped waitressing ( or running around a dining room for hours on end) I started packing on the weight.

This is a picture of me last summer…next to the rest of my slender family.  It makes me very sad.


So my choice is dress didn’t help… but still.  THAT is not ME!!!

When I look in the mirror I don’t see that person.  Not even close!

I still see the lighter version of me.

So, I joined Weight Watchers.

Now…I’ve been on it for a little more than 2 weeks, and with a slight adjustment for a different set of scales, I’ve come to the conclusion that I have lost between 8 and 10 pounds.  THAT makes me happy.

My secret so far has been the 1point soup ( Or cabbage soup) that I stuff with every vegetable in the fridge, and pretzel sticks (to replace my potato chips) counted out into portions. And yes, I count every one!

I’ll share some recipes with you very, very soon.

    • I love it too! Guilt free, and you can add so much flavour! Today mine has eggplant and zucchini, mushrooms onion, ect… so yum.

        Eggplant and zucchini are great in soup, my faves! Don’t get me started on cabbage. I can eat that anytime, all the time, in anything. Hubby doesn’t get it. He’s missing out.

        Don’t forget, you QUIT smoking, and THAT is a big accomplishment.

  2. Congratulations on your loss so far! I also quit smoking and put on some weight – it’s not a good feeling and the struggle to lose it is a… well, struggle! It takes time and as other people have said – the quitting smoking is a real accomplishment and WORTH the extra lbs

  7. I hate that soup but my parents who are also ww love it. It’s a lot of work but so worth it.

    Congratulations on your weight loss! I’ve never struggled with my weight until the birth of my son. I can tell you it was a lot more fun putting it on then it has been taking it off! I too think it’s time for a change! Keep up the good work :)
