Welcoming November with Family Movies on Disney Junior

Have you noticed the chill in the air?  Yes, autumn is here and I am preparing for a cold winter.  I spend my evenings curled up under the blanket I am knitting for my little boy, adding a row or two each night as we sit together as a family watching television or chatting.  We are ready for winter.  The oil tank is full and with the sun setting so early in the day, this is the time of year when we once again are able to reconnect as a family and enjoy each other’s company.

After a dinner full of root veggies, and the PJ’s are on, the calm togetherness of these dark evenings is what I value most.

Sometimes we all work on separate projects, but often times I look for a movie we can all enjoy.  One that we can all snuggle up on the sofa and watch together.  And thanks to Disney Junior, this month I have a special movie night planned.

peter pan1He’s the boy who has lived in my heart for years (and most likely yours as well).  He’s the one who reminds us from time to time to remember what it’s like to get down and play, to stop being so grown up…laugh like you’re a child again.  And even to play with your own shadow once in a while.  Yes, Peter Pan is coming to Disney Junior this fall, and I (and my family) will be watching.

Disney’s Classic Peter Pan premieres Saturday November 23rd at 6pm eastern time.

(Check your local listings to be sure not to miss it!)

I always considered myself a little bit like Wendy.  The girl who was stuck between wanting to grow up too fast and wanting to continue enjoying all the perks of childhood.  Now that I’m grown I certainly miss those perks, and I find myself reminding my oldest son (or wishing on a star) that he doesn’t need to be older yet.

In preparation for the upcoming movie premiere (in my living room) I am going to make my boys some fantastic Peter Pan hats (red feather included!) I found an awesome tutorial on how to make them and I cannot wait to see how they look!  I may just have to make one for myself as well!

I am also planning on making a special cupcake dessert, I think these Pirate Cupcakes will make the perfect treat!  The pirate theme fits in perfectly, just need to sprinkle them with a little pixie dust and they’ll be perfect!
