Breakfast! or Lack There Of

I don’t eat breakfast.

I know, I really should. It is the Most Important Meal Of The Day.

I think it comes from being a kid and being told that I had too. By commercials, by parents and teachers, and that rebellious side of me just said no. But now, as an adult and a mother, I know the importance of it, but haven’t yet figured out how to incorperate it into my day.

I feed my kids (well, my toddler) breakfast. My oldest refuses it, just like me. Only recently did I realize that he probably does this BECAUSE I don’t eat breakfast. Kids learn what they see, right? If Mommy doesn’t have to eat it, then why should I?

Quite obvioulsy, I need to change.  It’s not right sending a 6 year old to school with an empty belly.  ( I promise, it’s not for lack of trying to feed him, he just doesn’t want it) So I have decided to change.  I’ve decided that breakfast time, is just as important as dinner time, my kids and I will sit at the kitchen table, and talk about how much of an awesome day it’s going to be.  They’re going to see me eat my breakfast every day, and they will in turn learn that that is what they need to be doing as well.

That’s there to let you know that I work with General Mills.  And I love that I get the opportunity to work with a brand that I support all the time.  Seriously, I go though a box of Cheerios a week with William – his favorite breakfast, snack, and my favorite thing to give him.  Their quick, they’re easy and they’re Whole Grain.  (I don’t need to worry about him yet, he still loves his breakkie)

Since General Mills has a large variety of breakfast cereals, I’m going to start here.  Cereal every morning (with a side of coffee, please don’t forget the coffee) and a piece of fruit.  I always have organic apples and bananas in the house for the kids, I think they can share with mama.  The Cheerios I don’t dare try to share though, I would get one mean look from my little guy.  He knows they’re his.

When I received my intro kit into the LMDConnecter program, I received a lot of cereal.  Fibre1, Cheerios, and Triple Berry Oatmeal Crisp.  The Oatmeal Crisp is my favorite, and has been for years.  Though I usually chose it for a bedtime snack over breakfast.  (Just call me backwards) Now, I mix the Oatmeal Crisp and the Fiber1, it’s so yummy!  Love the little honey clusters in the Fiber1.

For tomorrow I’m planning a big breakfast!  I found so many easy recipes on the Life Made Delicious website, It was hard to chose just one! I chose these amazing looking pancakes to try out, since everyone is going to be home.  I can’t wait to try some of the other breakfast recipes that I’ve found.  (I’ve already saved them to my recipe box)

But if you’ve ever seen me make pancakes, you’ll know that only about 50% of them turn out.  I may have to make a few practice cakes before I serve up the main dish! Wish me luck!!

    I wake my daughter a bit earlier during school. She’s like me she can’t eat when she gets up. I’m up very early in the morning so by the time I’m ready to eat its around 9am and I’ve already put in 4-5 hours

  2. I am like you and have trouble eating.I usually eat a little later in the day after I am up for awhile.Your recipe looks very delicious for biscuick pancakes.I may have to try that.Thanks.

  3. I’m a healthy eater by nature so I always have “good” things around to feed my boys. Luckily they love granola with yogurt! Add in some walnuts and raisins and they are in heaven!
