Summer is here and we’re all trying to squeeze as much as we can into the 2 short months of freedom that we have. Well, freedom that the kids have. Somebody’s gotta go to work. All our weekends are booked up with road trips, camping, amusement parks and just about anything else we can find a slot for.
Our family hasn’t gotten to far just yet this summer. With my return to work, and Daddies already busy schedule we’re pulling at straws trying to have some family fun, But we are planning a trip to the amusement park about an hour and a half away. Road trips with young kids are always fun. “Are We There Yet, Are We There Yet….Are We There Yet?” comes to mind. Bordom in the car can be easily averted with just a little bit of preperation.
A favorite video game or book will work for some. Though not my kid. He’s like me, can’t read in a moving vehicle. Portable DVD players and video games aren’t an option either, they cause the same nauseating effect. But one thing that will keep Ben entertained for the entire trip is music. For one, he loves listening to music. Be it kids music or Mom and Dads stuff, he quickly learns all the words and is singing along before the end of the tune. One of his most request CD’s is from Name Your Tune. He loves that his name is incoperated to the songs, and I remember the first time he listened to it, he beamed! It made him feel like those songs were special, just for him.
Last week I received a new Name Your Tune CD. This time for Baby William. And though he’s still a little to young to realize that the songs have his name in them, he still loves to listen to the music. And Ben makes sure that both CD’s get played on our trips to the store, Bens on the way there, and Williams on the way home. He’s such a thoughtful big brother.
