Smelly Washer Review & Givaway (Closed)

27 April 2010 69 Comments

Imagine, you finally find a few minutes to yourself.  After the craziness of everyday life, all you want to do is escape to the shower and enjoy the heat on your aching muscles, the relaxing sound of the water beating off your back, the 5 minutes of peace that you find. When you finally give in, and decide to get out of the shower, you grab a towel and begin to dry, the EWE!  What a stink!

Ok, so really, as a Mom to young kids, to try and get a shower in every day is a struggle to say the least.  But, on those occasions when I do get to escape to bath the last thing I want to dry off with is a Smelly Towel.  But for some reason I can’t seem to escape them.

Now, my Mother would tell you that she has never had a smelly towel.  Her laundry never sits, never waits.  As soon as she has a load, it gets washed, dried, ironed and put away.  Yes, I said ironed.  Her kids are grown, she has time.  I’m lucky if I don’t wash the same load three times because I’ve forgotten about it in the washer.

My laundry tends to sit, and unfortunatly, it can get smelly.  Hubby complains all the time about his work cloths smelling musty.  I wash it and wash it, and cannot get the stink out.  At least I couldn’t until now.

Recently, I was contacted to try out a product that would take the musty smell out of my washer and my clothes.  I quicky replied with a YES!  And soon received a bottle of Smelly Washer.

After carefully reading the directions (I want this stuff to work) I set my washer to HOT, added one level capful of all natural Smelly Washer and let it aggitate for 2 minutes.  Then I turned the washer off and let it sit all night.  Bright and early the next morning I finished the cycle and stuck my head in the washer.  I will admit, it smelled pretty fresh!!

Next, the towels.  Filled the washer with my favorite stinky towels, added a level cap to the load and let it aggitate for 2 minutes.  Then I let it soak for 2 hours.  I finished the cycle and rewashed with my regular laundry detergent.  After they were dry, I grabbed one and wet it down (’cause it’s when they’re wet that you notice the stink) and to my surprise, the sniff test came back with great results!  They smelled much better.  Now my shower time will be enjoyable from start to finish…as long as I remember to lock the door.

Buy it!

The main cause of front load or top load stink is the overuse of detergents. Generally, we’re only removing sweat and perfume from our clothing so it’s necessary to use very minimal amounts.

My husband has been complaining about stinky towels for a while now. I admit I didn’t notice it until he pointed it out, but they do have an odor. Yuck.

As a busy mom of 2 (ages 4 and 2), a graduate student and wife…sometimes laundry takes a back seat to whatever is going on. I’ll have good intentions and get the washer started but…oops…I leave it in there too long and it gets that mildew smell. Not even rewashing the laundry gets the smell out AND…now the whole washing machine has that stinky odor! This sounds like just what I need to get the stinch out!

Everything that comes out of my washer stinks! I had no idea it was from mildew…eww! I’m always so disappointed when i buy this great smelling, expensive detergent, but i can’t smell it on my clothes!

From their website, i learned that using cold water contributes to the mildew and smell!

I was surprised to learn that liquid fabrib softener can leave a residue in the washer that can lead to mildew.

The best way to clean both a plastic and stainless steel tub dishwasher is to set it for a long, hot cycle such as “pots & pans” or “baked on goods”. ALLOW THE UNIT TO RUN FOR 15 MINUTES. Open the door and dash in 2 cups of WHITE vinegar. Shut the door and allow the unit to complete it’s cycle.
